Clear Coat Peeling on Hood

As the title states my clear coat is peeling really bad on just my hood only. The rest of my jeep looks good. I am thinking about tackling this myself as I am not looking for a showroom finish, just a decent looking hood. Has anyone had experience with this? What is the best procedure?

I was thinking just sanding all of the old clear off, scuffing the paint under it and respraying it with a base then a clear.

I have the same problem with my 03, it looks like little x's all over the hood. I do not have a place to attempt a paint job but I don't see why you couldn't hit it with a base coat then a few coats of clear. If you paint your hood take before and after photos I would be interested in looking at them.

Just sand all the old clear off. There are a lot of paints out there they even have ready to spray so you don't even have to mix it

It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool.
Nothing like a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling. I have a few.
4.0 auto, 8.8 rear with detroit locker, 4.10's and 33x 12.50's

I'd browse the paint and body forum for answers to this one.

Just did my hood, had a bunch of little spider cracks under the clear. I had to strip, prime and shoot the whole thing. Otherwise it will just happen again.

if the damage is in the middle, cover the middle of the hood with those flat black decals, or that big metal louver plate that vents the engine

Yea I have those same x marks in mine I thinks its because the wrangler engine get so dang hot!
