cleaning out cowl area- write up?

i thought i saw a write up on cleaning out the cowl area and a vent to prevent it from backing up and leaking when it rains. anyone have any idea what im talking about?

How can that get dirty? Isn't there a screen at the top of the cowl?

it can get clogged with leaves and what not and cause it to backflow on to your passenger side floorboard...

Yes, remove the cover (held in by several screws) and pick out any loose items in there. Pop the hood and against the firewall, there's a black tube that comes straight down. Pop that off and hose it down with water to get anything that's stuck in there...

And then take your hose and spray in the cowl area until the water runs clear out of the hole (the hole that the black tube goes on) and once that happens, put everything back together and move on.

BTW, I did this to my YJ and it helps slightly, but there are still water issues other places.
