Question:
I was just cleaning this on my 2000XJ and broke the gasket on the IAC body. I made a new one from gasket material, but where can I buy an actual one??
Thanks

I would assume the dealer would be able to at least order one for you. It shouldn't be but about a few bucks... theoretically.

Rough Idle
Thanks for the great detail. I have an 88 XJ with rough idle in gear and it likes to stall at stop lights, going to do a good cleaning this weekend.

Is it carb or FI? My old carbed YJ had the same stop light problem, google search found a good write up on how to do a quick clean by pulling the venturi cluster and that solved the problem.

88 XJ has a 4.0 and is fuel injected. 1987+ was injected.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I guess my YJ was just a little behind the curve w/ the old carbed 4.2.

I know you can use rtv for the IAC housing, but do you need to use rtv when you re-mount the TB?

Yea the YJ was a little behind but the 4.2 was a great motor either way. You dont use RTV between the TB and manifold. Get the TB gasket from your local parts store. Costs only 3-4 bucks.

My 2.4 started stalling occasionally when coming to a stop a few months ago, and this past week has started stumbling when I take off from a stop... I'm going to be optimistic and hope this is all it needs...

Same thing for 2.5L correct? If so I'll be doing this same day as the spark plugs, wires, dist. cap, Gum out, etc...
