Apparently, you can't buy it online. Google search for me had no results.

I have already serched for my part online and just tried again... no results as Jeep owns the 02-04 Wrangler owners... we have no other option than the high price at the dealership.

Yeah, all I seem to get is the PDF file that I think Fog posted earlier in the thread. I think I'll just go with some good synthetic or lithium grease.

Just look for your local Caterpillar dealer/parts supplier. Other greases with high levels of moly will work just fine.

The part number for the 2000 thru 2004 OPDA is 53010615AA. The description that shows up on Trademotion DOES look to be in error. This number is based on Jeep parts lists. To get complicated, the 2000 and 2001 have a part number of 5083881AA. That number supercedes ("Part number 5083881AA was superseded by part number 53010615AA" quote from the site) to the 53010615AA number on trademotion, which is the number in my 2002 thru 2004 parts list. I use mopardiscountparts.com (not part of them, just a satisifed customer). SO,I think the number is correct. Their opening website has a phone number which I have called for clarification of a part in the past. BTW, the 2000 thru 2004 OPDA has a discounted price of $46.76.
Don't forget the gasket at the bottom of the OPDA. Part number in an earlier post

Part number they gave me just now over the phone is 53010615AV and the cost is $191... still not 100% sure so I am going to stick it out with the dealership as I have to have my rig up and going and cannot find out the part doesn't work while it sits on the Dealership service shop floor.

This is a frustrating deal.

Also for the 05 and 06 guys that other part I ordered and cancelled this morning I got an email from them saying Chrysler discontinued the part and it would not be available in the future.

Ah ha...maybe someone over at DC has engineered a permanent fix? Lets follow this one and see if there is some light at the end of this tunnel.

Thank goodness I picked one 2 weeks ago at my dealership for $101 with my discount. It may sit for awhile but I will have it if my stock one goes bad.. I have 16,000 miles on the ticker. I hope DC comes out with a fix because dealer put a new gear on mine last year when this thread began. I inspect it every couple of months and it has no abnormal wear YET.

I ordered one this past Saturday from mopar-wholesale.com and it hasn't shipped yet but I'll keep you guys posted if they can't get one for me. I should know in a day or two hopefully.

I don't see any evidence that 53010624AC is discontinued...just out of stock. Maybe the vendor is having a hard time keeping up with demand..?

Check your email or sign in to your account at the site. I also ordered one this weekend and then received an email from them today informing me that the price had changed (from $99 and change to $109 and change) and with instructions about how to log in and approve the new price before they would ship.

My understanding is that the law requires that manufacturers continue to make parts available for a model year for a minimum number of years (I believe it is 10, but am sure that it is no less than this). If Chrysler is saying that the part will no longer be available for the '05 - '06, I think it is reasonable to assume that they are coming out with a new part to replace it. Hold on to your wallets.

I also ordered the gear from NAPA. I received an email from them today indicating that the part was not available (out of stock), and that they had no information as to when it would be available, so they have cancelled my order. I know there was another gear (From Crown I think?) that has been mentioned, but I cannot find the P/N in my notes that I took as I was going through the thread. Does anyone have that P/N handy?

Anyone have the part number for the NAPA/Echlin gear? I want to see if any of my local NAPA stores happen to have one in stock.

I check the status today and the OPDA and gasket did ship. Maybe them not being able to get any is a load of poo?
