Maybe these are the folks who built our Jeeps which might explain this OPDA issue along with some other things on this board ...

Nice try, but this is a design issue, not an assembly issue. Post back up when you find a video of a bunch of drunk engineers having lunch in a bar.

From Bobby at dodge-wholesale.com:

"The distributors still have an ETA of release on 04-11-11, hasn’t changed in the last month or so, might be a good date."

I have to agree with TJJP77 but thank you for the vid. I can only imagine the fear, at least for awhile, experienced by those guys.

I just called LDI, a local company here after seeing it on a job posting.
Being the same company, I asked if I could purchase one outright, but not with the agreements with Chrysler and such.
Still have to either get on the list at dealer or go Dodge wholesale.
Asked my op on what's causing my gear wear(<6k on new OPDA, 70k on orig).
In my case I believe it to be prev wear to cam bringing down the worm gear

05x 4.0 6sp 30/35, aussie front, 3.73's, r/c 4"x lift, adv adptr sye, shifter bracket, tw cv ds, 33 t/c skid, 33x12.5 dunlop mud rovers on steelies, psc sport cage/rockers, warn fr bump/steer and 30 diff skid, sirius,cb, hand throttle 1"bl/mml 265/16's pepboys at's on orig moabs for street. Lowrance H20c for gps

I got a call from the Jeep rep I've been dealing with today, she told me my new OPDA was at my dealer. Here's how our conversation went.

Me: So how much is this going to cost me?

Her: I don't know sir.

Me: Well I've heard that the prices have doubled since the back order began.

Her: I'm sorry about that sir.

Me: So am I. Do you know if the part is the same part as before?

Her: I don't know sir, I wish I did though.

Me: I wish you knew too. I'd hate to find out I'm paying twice as much for the same piece of junk.

Her: Well (long pause) I guess I could refund you 50% of the cost you incur, seeing as how much trouble you've gone through with this issue.

Me: At least that would bring me back down to where I would have been before the price hike, had there not been an issue in the first place.

At this point she changed the subject and told me how to get my money back.

I stopped by the dealer and was told the new OPDA is $347!! I asked if it was the same part, the parts lady told me it appeared to be from a new supplier and the part number use to end in AC and now ends in AB. I didn't have time to talk with the shop manager I've been dealing with, or to actually look at the part. I have not paid for it yet either. I'll stop by there tomorrow and see if I can get a look at it.

Anyone else get a new one yet?

Oh, and the parts lady told me they are on back order again.

I ordered an OPDA last Friday (8th) from Bobby at Dodge-Wholesale.com for $258. He told me that it was not in stock but he should have one in four days.

I just recieved an emial from them indicating it is being shipped out today
(13th). Three business days later. Not bad.

Was it part # 53010624AC that you ordered? Want to make sure I get the right one before I spend the money.

Oil Pump Drive Assembly 53010624AC

Oil Seal 1-J3181288

Is this for a newly designed OPDA? was the design flaw addressed? I don't mind paying the $400 if it is a redesigned part. I just discovered this thread today and now am nervous about checking mine (noing I can't even get the part if mine is faulty). I just bought this tj 2 months ago and it has 106,672 on it. no squeals or chirps, but I'm still nervous!

The part is not redesigned. The price went up because the cost of manufacturing went up. Don't ignore it. Pull it and at the very least replace the gear and FogMOD it.
