I have a 2002 SE 4 cyl. with A/C. I've had a chirping sound coming from my engine (sounds like a small bird). We replaced the two tensions. We thought is was the alternator, and after we replaced the alternator, the chirp initially went away. But after driving for 10 minutes it came back. I noticed it was gone this morning when I started for work, but had returned by the time I got there. Is the engine god messing with me? I'm wondering if could have something to do with the fan belt heating up. The belt looks fine, but it has 55,000 miles on it. I'd appreciate your thoughts.
If I was getting a belt chirp and had 55,000 miles on my belt I would replace it with a new Gatorback belt just to eliminate that as the issue.
It can look good and still be glazed or stretched.
Thanks for the advice. I will replace the belt. I also got a stethoscope so I can check for a pulse.
