Check Pinion Angle

I just installed a Teraflex 3 inch spring lift but actually got 4 inches. I did the transfer case drop because I don't have a SYE yet. This was my first experience with work on my jeep. I learned from the Jeep Forum how to install the lift and tried to educate myself on lifts and the affects they have on other components. Since I have never looked at a pinion angle I just want to be sure its correct. Thanks for all you knowledge that you post on the forum it is very helpful to newbies

Transfer case 231, Dana 44

Did you check the pinion angle? None of your pictures show that...

The pinion angle needs to be exactly the same as the transfer case's output shaft angle with that type of driveshaft. Definitely never any higher and as low as 1-2 degrees under that of the t-case output shaft. It may be the photo angle but it looks like someone raised the pinion angle up to match the driveshaft which is incorrect and can cause vibes.

Jerry,
So, can I fix this with adjustable upper rear control arms?

a little with decel at around 10-15 mph and less. I just don't want to damage anything by leaving it if its not correct.

Adjustable uppers will allow you to correct it, you'll need them also when you do get an SYE and new driveshaft...

X2 Good to have no matter what.

Sounds like your good for now and running it that way isn't going to hurt anything in the mean time as long as your not getting a bad vibe. Are you sure the vibe you described is coming from the rear? I only ask because most folks get them constantly and under a load, not during deceleration.

I was wondering about that too, you took a measurement at the pinion but you put the angle finder on the shaft, not the pinion yoke.

Are both of these measurements taken on the yokes?

Like stated earlier, your rear pinion looks too high. Yes adj uppers would allow you to correct it. Did your lift come with cam bolts? I don't know if you could get enough adjustment from those to help or not, I do know they are a lot less $$$ than adjustable uppers.
