Check engine light came on,then off.

Check engine light came on when cruising up to a light in neutral. Stayed on a couple of days. (Went off when I came out of the parts store to price code checkers.) Is rolling in neutral a no no?

You can check codes easily, without a scanner. With the engine off, turn the key on, off, on, off, on, off, on. (On = run, not start)

Your digital odometer display should display 2-digit codes, ending with "55". They should also blink out on the check engine light.

Alternatively, most part stores will read your codes for free.

Odds are the code was TPS. They are famous for that. The TPS are rarely bad, it's the damn harness plug. Next time it does it, get your codes read at an auto parts store. If it's TPS, unplug it and plug it back in, be sure it's tight. The light will probably go out the next time you drive it.

I tried that but couldn't get it to work. The local Parts source here does not check for free (or at any price)! Does NAPA do it in Canada?

Nah.... rolling in neutral is not a problem. I do it a lot....
I would just sit tight and see if it happens again. I think that things just get temporarily "stupid" on occasion.
