Cheaper Alternative to a Highline?
I'm new to the Jeep world, and I don't have $2000.oo to spend on the kit, as much as I want it. Has anyone made their own? What about tube fenders? I'm only want 33"s for now, maybe 37"s down the road. I have searched, but all of the pics posted up were removed by photobucket. I have looked on the AEV website, but damn that is just out of my price range. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

yea, do a search. "mudb8" is the king of DIY Highlines. he's got plenty of posts showing his rig on 2.5" SL with 37s. theres several write-ups on various DIY highline approaches.

I'm fortunate enough to know how to weld myself, so I think I might go for it. I just don't like the first one with the fenders bent down. I'm thinking of cutting the hood 2", and then cutting the fender, and making my own tube fenders. I seen one, and it looked tits.

I'm not knocking his work, but every homebrew highline I have seen, the front fenders look "out of whack" and not staraight. Also, I'm not a big fan of the flare not flowing clear to the bottom of the rockers. The only time it looks right is with the actual AEV kit or tube fenders. Just me?

want it rite or rite now?

rocker protection covers the lower portion, the high flares no longer get ripped off either.. when fender meets tree, fender usually looses.

yep, but most all of the highlines i've done had bent fenders to start with... see the last page... there's a flat version.

That would be too easy, plus I may not be able to afford it armor yet. I haven't checked prices on it though.
