its not that bad, your not screwed.

The worst that you can do it nothing, and keep topping of the oil. How long will it last like that?? a month, a year, longer?

You can get a transmission out of wrecked tj for less that a grand. that isnt terrible.

Man you must have strained when you tighten that drain plug. did you crap your pants pulling on that cheater bar?

It only has 71000 Km on it and the warreny is for 100000 Kms or 5 years and it a 2005. I don't think the powertrain warrenty will cover something like this.

well, if you put mopar stuff in it, and take it to the dealer and just tell them its leaking. They might fix it. if you didnt mess anything up, deny ever touching it, just tell them its leaking.

well there is one way to find out if it is covered bring it to the dealer, tell them you have been noticing fluid dripping on your driveway recently and you want them to find the leak,

i wouldn't tell them what you have told us or that you even drained the oil, i would leave the drain plug in w/out tape and backed out so about 2-3 threads are showing(thats how mine looks when tight) and see what they say. And ask about warrenty.

Kind of sneaky but...

Isnt there a paint line on the bolt? Mine does at least on all the oil bolts. Line up the paint line and take it to the dealer.

Where the drain plug is, is it possible to just replace that part of the housing?

I had shavings also at 30,000 miles. Sure didn't have your problems though. I put a single wrap of teflon tape on the plug when I re-installed it.

Mine looked exactly like yours.

Is it possible to just replace the housing part that has the drain and fill plug? Or just replace the whole thing? Any idea what a new 6 speed goes for? I'm guessing around $5000.

$2399.99 pg 289 of the Holiday Edition Quadratec mag. Brand new, not remanufactured. Rediculous in my book.

JB weld it or something.
