Changing trans fluid, NSG370 (6-Speed, '05)

I changed the fluid in the NSG370. I think I messed up though; it can't be THAT simple to do. I waited until fluid was coming out of the fill hole. The fluid that came out didn't look dirty. The drain plug magnet was full with shaving though.

Yeah, it's that simple. Drain, refill. It's normal to see some shavings on the magnet. No worries.

I used Amsoil, Synchromesh. I chose this over the Redline, only for the fact that the Amsoil meets MS-9224.

Lets not get into this discussion. Amsoil does NOT meet or exceed. Its recommended.

Well guys, it says ON THE BOTTLE that it meets MS-9224. If its there I will assume it meets the standard.

Now, I have sweating on the drain plug, how do I fix that?

Are you sure its not just a little bit of leftover oil residue on the plug?

Should I have installed a new drain plug with the new trans fluid?

spray the drain plug and fill plug areas with brake or contact cleaner, should get rid of any residual oil

no offense, but its one of the easiest jobs to do, like changing motor oil. get a new torque wrench and recheck it.

this might sound stupid and i don't even know if it's possible but, i seem to remember that you need 2 differnet sized hex sockets to remove these plugs, could you have mixed them up when insatalling them?

if the plugs are in the correct spot, i would remove the drain plug (drain oil in to a clean container so you can refill your trans.) and inspect the threads for damage ex. cross threading, as well as the threads in the trans.

wrap teflon tape around drain plug threads and reinstall, i know the fsm says 22 ft lbs but it is just a drain plug to keep oil in, i am sure a little less torgue will be fine
