Center Cap Alternatives??

I got some my new wheels on finally, they are black (on a black TJ), but the center caps are silver. They look really funky contrasting with the black, and I don't like them. So no silver center caps it is.

BUT, I don't want the rusted axle end showing either.

So what are my alternatives? Can I paint the axle end? There is rust on there now, wouldn't I need to clean it off first (not looking forward to that) before painting it??

Is there some flush mount snap-in center cap I can get? What size would I need?

The wheels are your typical pro comp '97 series 15x8.

I ordered my Cragar soft 8's without caps by accident - and I just shot the hubs with some black rattle can paint.

It worked well for the month or so I ran that way. I finally put the caps on this weekend though.

But I noticed that also, the Cragar caps stick out like 7 inches, when a flat one would suffice.

You could also take your silver caps and spray 'em black (I think Krylon Fusion is usually what people recomend, and I've used it with nice results). You could also probably use spray on engine enamel or something along those lines.
Just make sure you prep before hand if you go this route.

I'm in the same boat. I bought some chrome center caps when I bought my soft 8's, and it just looks funky to me. I want some black ones instead, not sure if I want to go the country crock route or not though, doesn't seem like it would be too durable and would eventually break.

So I may be selling my center caps in the coming weeks if anyone wants them.

I did the same thing. It doesn't look too bad with the hubs painted black.

Have a good one,
Justin

I took off my wheels and did bedliner on the hubs.

I saw a rig on the trail with this setup (stock centers modded to fit cragar soft 8's) and thought it would look great with my silver jeep. The pic is kinda blurry but here it is.....

I'm a cheap bastard. I did the buttercups. Pics are in the sig. They work fine and you can't beat the price. You even get a bunch of butter.

I bet those would look great if they were painted to match.
