car wash with a light bar?

anyone ever try putting their jeep through a carwash with the light bar up? Ive been wondering about what the rollers and whatnot would do to it for a while. Seems like a really bad idea but just wanted to see if anyone had tried it.

I only get mine washed once a month or so - and when I do - I go all out and have it done with the pressure washer.

They do a more thorough job and no problems with the things sticking out and so on... plus if you've got a guy with good control over it, or do it yourself, you can pressure wash the outside and chassis without getting the inside wet.... with no roof.

As you can see... not even the safari top back then

Pressure washer will take off paint and/or whatever wax you put on your Jeep.

My only worry is that at the moment the tread width is too wide for the runners in the roller car wash - and at the moment has a few inches to spare on the lift-up one.

When I jump up to full width axles and 15.5" wide tires I'll have to try to make sure at least half the tread stays on the lift

Would depend on how much pressure it's using wouldn't it?

I've never had a problem with the paint at the wash... and despite the bling bling appearance in the pictures there's not a single body panel on the Jeep that isn't scratched... the red hides it well... anyway there's a ton of points where it would be easy for the washer to lift the paint off and it doesn't. They must have it set pretty low.

They do a good job though it looks brand new when it comes out

After a powerwasher took the paint off my ZJ I will stick to a regular hose and hand washing my Jeeps.

I've put one throught the wash several times with a light bar. It was one of those washes where you go through spinning and linguine brushes. It came out just fine. You shouldn't have any worries.

Woah!!

I thought bringing a soft top through an automatic carwash was a BIG no-no. Can it be done?

I have been washing all my vehicles trucks, Corvettes, show cars & aniques with a 3500lb washer since 1975 and NEVER had a problem with the paint coming off if power washer is used correctly. If the washer is used at the highest narrow setting and the paint isnt the best. Then its going to come off but than again it would come off sooner or later anyway.
