cant find the name of a piece

See im not really what its called but i found pictures and threads about the mystery hose that seems to fall down on everyones TJ, but the one thing i cant find is what the replacement part is that goes in the end of it.... apparently i drove fron louisiana to san antonio with the damn thing dragging across the road and the cap fell off. can anyone please help me find out how to cap of the hose. sorry its kind of late a night so if im not making any sense ill try explaining better tomorrow during that day!! Thanks for any help!!!

I don't know the name of the part, but I DO know it is used to keep water from getting INTO the hose, but lets the diff breathe. I had to replace my hose a few weeks ago.

Its a breather valve. It was about 4 bucks at the stealership.

Yeah, that's got to be the breather. Four bucks for that? Hell no. Salvage yard, like Douglas said.

Your time must not be worth much. You can't hunt to long before you wase more than the $4.00 IMHO.

I would call it a barb fitting.

In fact, that is what I am using in my front axle for a breather hose fitting. I cannot remember the size though.

The factory part is p/n 83504653 and list price is $5.25.

The parts catalog simply refers to it as a "vent".

If you're interested, you can get a copy of the parts catalog for your year from a link in the FAQ under the Commonly Used Links section.

Why go to the junkyard when its $5 at the dealer?

Are you hoping they will give it to you?
