camshaft position sensor?

I cant seem to find anyplace that sells a camshaft position sensor... None of the local autoparts stores have it - only have crankshaft sensor. Even my search online has been fruitless.

Can anyone point me in the direction of one of these?

Thanks in advance.

I recently got one for my '06 at checker. Napa also had them.

What do you got going on? No Spark?

I got a new cps and oil pump shaft drive installed today. You can find them on advanced, orielys or autozones website I believe. I ordered mine from the dealer. It was about $60.

How can you tell when yours is bad?

Getting a 1391 cel - computer sometimes cant see camshaft or crankshaft position sensor. I was hoping to do the cam first - seems a little easier to get at than the crank pos sensor which sits on top of the tranny.

So Im really confused.... It would appear that no one sells a cps for a 98. Is it possibly called something else?

Every place I look has camshaft position sensors for models 00 and over but nothing for a 98. Do I have to replace the entire distributor? That would be a pisser for a little sensor that prolly doesnt cost more than $30.

Anyone with older TJ's been able to find one?

Based on napaonline.com I come up with "Distributor Pick-up Assy" ECHMP847

This sensor can be tested by looking for a fluctuating 5 volt signal as the engine turns over - described in this thread:
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showt...=camshaft+test

The crankshaft position sensor wasn't too bad to change out on my '98 auto, heck of a lot better than my grand cherokee was, hopefully your ax15 is similar.

Thanks a bunch. I just picked one up from a dealership. Probably should have looked there earlier but im not inclined to give them too much of my $.

I thought about testing the sensor but wasnt sure it would tell me anything as the problem is pretty intermitent. It generally doesnt throw the code until I hit 2000 rpms.

Thanks for the responses.
