Camshaft

I was wondering if anyone knew the part number of a replacement camshaft for a 1997 TJ 4.0L I6? Or, know of a performance alternative? Thanks.

they do but they all require tuning, well some tuning to say the least. plus you have to buy lifters seperate and what not- i priced it and its almost $400 for the timing gear, camshaft, lifters, crank gear, and timing gear. the mopar kit i believe uses all stock parts, except the camshaft and lifters and cost $100 less. i paid $875 to have it installed and im happy with the results.

This months issue of "JP" discusses this issue, in a good article that also sparked my interest in other expereinces with high performance camshafts. Look in JP for more info.

Just got the latest issue of JP last night. They just happened to do a 4.0 cam swap in that issue. Don't remember the grind, but they gained some good HP and torque. I think it was about 19HP, but; I could be wrong. Memory ain't what it used to be.
Check it out.
