Calling all v8s!

If you guys could share your overall gear ratio with me that would be great. (first gear x transfer case x axle)

I know what is ideal for the 4.0, but the v8 has more power. So when I think of the 4 banger needing to be geared to 4.88, and the inline six being geared to 4.56, does that mean a V8 should run 4.10 for a 33 inch tire?

originally I had planned on running 94:1 on 33s. This sounded WAY to low. So I a revamped my v8 swap plan and got it down to 63:1, how does that sound for a v8 on 33s? Still too low?

Which V8 are you planning on running? Tranny? T-case? In most cases 4.10:1 is good with a V8 and 33s...

5.9 magnum, np231, nv4500 five speed (5.61) first gear. Leaving 4.10 axle gearing.

SO if you already know everything you are going to run, what is the question? I thought you were trying to select a axle ratio? Or are you just wanting to compare crawl ratios with other V8 set ups?

To the OP From what i have found out with the 5.9 NV4500 and 231 tcase the 4.10 will be more then adiquit (spelling). I have a friend back in delaware that is running the 5.9 nv3500 and 231 tcase on 35's and he says it is perfect. That is what i plan on doing as mine already has 4.10's. Just need to build the 8.8 with 4.10's

I fear the gear. lol

I wanted to compare crawl ratios with other v8s. And see if I need to lower my axle ratio or select a different transmission with a 4.03 first gear or something.

what axle gearing is he running?

if the nv3500 on 35s is perfect, maybe I need to higher my gearing since the nv4500 is a considerably lower gear. And 35 > 33 lol

Crap

You're thinking too hard! If you already have the axles geared to 4.10 then run it and see what you think...

Genius. lol

I keep forgetting about this, I just dont know if I will have to be changing driveshafts lengths constantly. for the lift, then for the engine, then maybe again when I swap my rear axle for a 44.
I think I can make it work though.

Still, anyone who wants to throw up their gearing ratio would be very helpful

run what you got, the v8 will have the torque to turn 33's with 4.10's. you could probably get away with 35's. 5.9 should be 2k rpm or just under for highway use.
