C203 Mystery - Auto-Dim/Compass Mirror Install

I've purchased the factory auto-dim/compass rear view mirror and am looking for the connector C203, in the dash but am unable to locate it. In the pic below, you can see how it "should" be run but on mine, 2005 Sport, it's not there. We've gone through schematics, traced the harness as best we could, to no avail.

Does anyone know, for certain, if there were TJ's produced that did not have this in the harness? Or, if you didn't have this under your dash (defroster cover), did you ever find it?

EDIT: See Posts 16 and 18 for Wiring Info

New, these mirrors are $300.

I bought it from CCJ, it was a pull from his 2006. It's actually in transit right now. I'm trading my stock mirror as part of the deal. But now, if I don't have the correct harness, it may be up for sale, again.

I had thought that all late model TJ's had this wiring. It's strange, I have the wiring up at the grill for the ambient temperature sensor just not the C203 branch on my instrument panel harness.

I'm starting to wonder if this is a soft top issue?

Well, based on your responses, I guess it's not a soft top issue. I was just trying to come up with some logical reason that my '05 wouldn't have this harness extension. Guess I'll have to keep thinkin'...

It may be under the dash and not routed up yet. Pull the vent cover, the stereo and get up in there and dig around.

well my digital camera is MIA so i cant send you pics, sorry. but i looked from underneath the dash (youll need 3 elbows and a few extra vertebrae) and it looked like it comes from somewhere near the passenger side back there. kind of in the middle but more towards that side. from what i know all '03 and up TJ's were wired for that option so im sure its in there somewhere.

P.S. making up a few cuss words helps in this search as well.

Yep, that was my initial hope. I had the entire dash apart and went over the entire loom. Never did find it...

Before this little experience, I also thought they were all wired too. Apparently not! Oh, and believe me, there were a couple of real zinger cuss words. Not too loud though...

just reading my FSM:

DESCRIPTION

An automatic day/night mirror system is an available
factory-installed option on this model. The automatic
dimming inside day/night rear view mirror
system is a completely self-contained unit that
replaces the standard equipment inside rear view
mirror. This system will automatically change the
reflectance of the inside rear view mirror to protect
the driver from the unwanted headlight glare of
trailing vehicles while driving at night. The automatic
day/night inside mirror receives ignition
switched battery current through a fuse in the junction
block, and will only operate when the ignition
switch is in the On position.

Contained within the mirror is a compass/temperature
display as well as two LED reading lamps.
The automatic day/night mirror sensitivity cannot
be repaired or adjusted. If any component of this unit
is faulty or damaged, the entire automatic day/night
inside rear view mirror unit must be replaced.

with that i would say that it wont be difficult to wire in yourself. find a switched 12V (plenty of these) source and hook it up. looking at the wiring diagram its spliced (C203) with the instrument cluster wiring (S215). it uses the same 10A fuse as well. hopefully thatll help you out some more.

heres what i was looking at. its toward the left and you can see how the diagram puts it in the same circuit as the instrument cluster. also you can see that its fuse number 10 on the fuse block.
