Bumpers

Are bumpers an easy DIY project? I would like to look into replacing my stock bumpers at some point. Also, do you think it will be possible to put a different style jk bumper (meaning not stock) on a TJ?

Thanks,
Gantt

Warn bumpers

I added the Warn M8000, Warn Bumper, and Warn plate. Everything matched up to the OEM bumper holes. Used permenant Lock tite and then welded the bolts.

Worked great.

2006 X, 6 speed, with above Warn equipment, Fabtec 4" lift, and 33 12-50 15's

Yeah, they are easy - at least mine was. Most aftermarket bumpers are totally bolt on - unless you're hard core and want to tie them in to some kind of fender protection. I would guess 2 hours max. on the install - even if you haven't done much wrenching before.

Most tools will be standard, but the stock front bumper bolts on mine needed a Torx bit.

Torx is something that you should own if you are planning on working on Jeeps.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm looking at bumpers also. Leaning towards the Rokmen. Anybody have experience with these, are they fairly straightforward installation. I am going to call, can't find prices on the rear bumper on their website. Any info would be great, thanks.

bumpers are mostly bolt on. Some model require some minor drilling. I put mine (front/rear) on my own with the help of a friend, more than anything for the company and to have a beer with a friend

I just installed the Rokmen Mercenary front bumper last month. It was a really easy install. I have not swapped out the rear bumper yet.
