Okay guys, here's a question for you:

I'm trying to find a hard mount for the quick disconnect outlet somewhere on my frame rail, but I can't find an explanation of how to do this. Does the QD disassemble and reassemble, going through a hole in a piece of sheet metal ... because I can make that easily. How is it done??

Also, I can't find a detachable cap (with a tether) for the QD when not in use. I've searched all over the place locally and on the net ... maybe I'm not using the correct search terms? Can someone help me out here??

Thanks!

Question do you have the write up on the wiring of these HID lights thanks?

Are you talking about a way to store the QD up out of the way when you're running around on the trail disconnected? If so, check out TeraFlex's disconnects. They're what I have. Notice there are 4 posts, there? Not just two? In the picture (zoom in if you have to) the two posts on the right are screwed into the frame where the disconnects naturally swing up to after you pull the pins and disconnect them. You have to drill a hole in the frame for each side and then tap it so that you can screw in the posts. So when you disconnect, you swing them up, put them on the post, and then put the washer on and then put the retaining pin in just like you would if they were disconnected, and it holds them up and out of the way. For me, this is the perfect solution. I don't know if other brands come with the same kind of thing, or if you can buy just those upper posts from TeraFlex, or what. Of course, you could make your own, too.

I don't have a picture of the finished product at the moment, but here's a pic I snapped while a buddy of mine was doing the tapping, to give you an idea of where they go:

I don't think one is really needed tobe honest. They use a simple two wire hookup since the ballast is integrated within the housing. Just use a switch, fuse, and simple 30A relay and you're set. If you really want a step by step write-up, PM me.

Thanks for putting your time into helping me out Firekit, but I'm talking about a female pneumatic QD for my OBA setup. Still haven't fixed it yet.

You mean where you can hit a switch and roll disconnected? I don't think there's any such thing. If you're not referring to disconnecting the suspension, you might want to consider where you're posting and therefore be more clear about it

No offense, but go back and read what I've been doing in this thread. No recent suspension mods (yet!) ... but I just added an On-Board Air (OBA) setup, and I was looking for a way to hardmount the female Quick Disconnect (QD) access point for air. Right now, I have the OBA output zip-tied to the top of my driver side frame rail, and I'm thinking of welding a little tab either on the top of the frame rail or to the rear bumper (when I build it) to hardmount it, but just haven't had the time to do anything.

And there is an electronic quick disconnect setup for the swaybay called the ORO's dual rate SwayLOC with a solenoid-switched pneumatic input source. Push a button, pneumatic solenoid switches the unit to the softer rate (disconnected): Off Road Only SL-TJ-AR - Off Road Only Dual Rate AirROCK&#8482 Controlled SwayLOC&#8482 Swaybar for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited with 0-8" Lift - Quadratec

You might want to consider where you're posting (my summer build thread) in the TJ Tech Section ... which, last time I checked, OBA setup questions were allowed. Wheel on!!

Good lord some people get butt-hurt too easily.

You're posting in the TJ tech section where referring to quick-disconnects means disconnecting the front sway bar. Without any more immediate context or explicit clarification, you have to expect for people to assume that's what you're referring to. Nobody says anything about what is "allowed." And no, the SwayLOC isn't a disconnect, whether manually or pneumatically switched, nor is the Anti-Rock or whatever TeraFlex calls theirs.

And in the end I'm still jealous of your OBA setup.
