Built a hard top storage dolly! (pics)

Thanks to "Orestes" on this other thread - http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/hardtop-storage-738114/?highlight=hardtop+storage for his pics. i just went to home depot, picked up some 2x4's, screws, and 2 furniture dollies. i had some extra carpet laying around for the short supports. did some measurements of the back of the hard top, made some cuts, and came out with a great storage idea without spending more than $55.

jammed all the crap in the back:

stood it up:

and it fits perfectly!

The weight distribution of these dollies always amaze me. Looks perfect to me. Great job on it. As a bonus, you can easily change the weatherproofing along the edge.

Yes, it is a great idea !!! very cheap to make and out weights the quality of some of pre-fabbed garbage out there.

The only down side, is after a summer of it standing up like it did for me, was some of the back window heater lines had worn out from rain and sleet. Or at least I found it did for mine. And Yes it was easier to repair the seal and to make a headliner !!

I wonder if an LJ top would be too big to balance correctly on this? Great idea though.

Nicely done! I can knock one of these together, and mine won't have to take up an obscene amount of room in the garage! Great build!

Not at all. I made one for my LJ a couple years ago.
