Wow. This is quite the old thread. Well, I've started making progress again. Joined the army almost two years ago, got married, and things went on the back burner for a while.

Anyway, my father in law is giving me a 305 and Turbo 350 that he had left over from a '86 Monte Carlo parts car. I plan on doing those and a np205 setup. I still plan on stretching wheelbase and new suspension. I've started tearing parts out to sell them off to help fund the build, and recoup some losses from buying a new car so I could finally retire the Jeep. The wife gets the new to us 2006 Volvo S40, while I get the 95 Saturn. The Saturn is getting replaced by a 93 Eagle Talon TSI soon enough, so it's all good.

Progress and pictures to come soon.

What does your State DMV say about putting an older engine in your TJ?...

I have no intention to make the jeep street legal. Also, Michigan has no annual inspections, so what they don't know...

Just because it's not street legal, doesn't mean that it's not subject to some state laws...

My statement?

Nope.

He said nothing about being registered and licensed, which in most states requires the same applications as a vehicle for "on road registration" as an off road one...

Well, the Jeep's fund money has been siphoned off by the Talon, and soon to come baby, so there isn't a whole lot of money left for me to throw at building the jeep up. The way it is now, she sits on jack stands. Transfer case sold off, rear axle gone, engine and trans getting ready to come out, and front axle refusing to move without being cut out. That's all I really have to update so far, though the Talon did run a 14.7sec 1/4 mile, so that's good. Not as fast as I was hoping it would, but I'm working on that.

Hopefully will be buying a welder here soon, just a 100amp stick, so nothing over 1/4", and I can start practicing on making my booger welds in to clean ones.

Engine is out, trans is out, front axle is out. Decided to go in the direction of hp60 front and 14 bolt rear. I've also decided that coil overs is a better option for stretching the wheelbase, and the money I save on axle brackets for coil buckets, may justify the extra cost. The engine going in the jeep will be a 5.0(305), mated to a th350, and more than likely a np205. Depending on how much I can move the rear axle back, I may attempt a doubler setup, but who knows. I'm in the process of collecting parts, but with a baby coming, and Army "stuff", its going to take a while. So bear with me. Hopefully this time next year, everything will fall in to place.
