Any year Explorer with a front CV shaft will work, just make sure it has the 1310 U-Joints. I pulled mine off the doner vehicle when I did my 8.8 swap.

Any other information on the Taurus electric fan swap? Is it a direct bolt in? What years?

The durango steering box has bigger gears inside (stronger),and less
of a turn ratio (quicker steering) The electric fan is not a direct bolt on, You have to modify the fan brackets and figure out how to mount the catch bin for the radiator. If you going for horsepower gain, (not worth the hassle for the benifit IMHO) Though it is cheaper than a new fan clutch which wears out at about 150,000. (squeals like the dickens when cold) I bought a used Flex-a-lite electic fan at a swap meet that had a bad relay for 25 bucks and used a thermostat control circuit from SCHUCKS for 25 bucks. http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=HAD&MfrPartNumber=3652& PartType=600&PTSet=A |

Try F150 springs in the front.

[QUOTE=gpw1942ford;4840440]The durango steering box has bigger gears inside (stronger),and less
of a turn ratio (quicker steering) Now that sounds like something I want to try. I have an 02 Sahara and I am wondering the following: 1. Are the steering boxs interchangable, and if not what kind of modifications would I have to do. 2. What year Durangos would work? ![]() |

The Lincoln MKVIII electric fan will also work for this modification while offering a higher air flow. When I installed this mod into my Jeep I used two different relays for the low (low used with the thermometer relay) and high speed (high relay in manual). The Lincoln fan has the same dimensions as the Taurus. I gained about 5-7 HP using this conversion and bolted it in fairly easy. If you are installing this into a I6 (4.0) you will have to cut down the water pump that hold the OEM fan or change out the studs for smaller. These mods are great if you want to install a body lift. The Durango steering box is bigger and beefier while offering a better turning ratio. Great if you do allot of rock climbing.

I am not familiar with the output shaft on a Rubicon. I believe it uses a flange adapter on the transfer case end. Post a pic of yours and we'll see what you would need to make it work. I know that Tom Woods makes rear CV shafts for many applications. If you are going to do a junkyard rear CV shaft, you will need to understand how it mates to the transfer case and the axle end. In my case, the transfer case uses a slip yoke, so I had to get an SYE to make the driveshaft work. This is standard practice. On my axle end (8.8), I chose to get a flange adapter from Napa.

I got most of the parts for my 3.5 inches of lift from a salvage yard.
Here is my write up... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/zj-cv-3-5-lift-wrangler-276656/ |

[QUOTE=MichMarine78;4840615][QUOTE=gpw1942ford;4840440]The durango steering box has bigger gears inside (stronger),and less

Maybe I am just over thinking this like I always do. Do alot of people run this set up and find no problems with it? Is it better or worse for highway driving? I know, I know enough of the questions! ha ha

I got the diameters from the NAPA website. I think I was wrong about the pigtail on the ZJ rears. badoosh27 said he used the ZJ rears and they work.
