I believe ZJ rears are only pig-tailed at one end as well. TJs are at both ends.

Also not sure they'd give the right amount of lift anyway, so probably not worth the time to try and make them work.
Thanks for those diameters, where did you find them? Looking at the RE catalog the ZJ rear coils are pigtailed at both ends as well.

I'll think of more later.....

The ZJ pitman arm is a 3/4" drop on an XJ.

So you have ZJ V8 front and rear coils on your TJ for roughly 3" lift?

On the ZJ tierod... all V8 has the larger. I got the inner tierod and coupler at my local AutoZone, had to go elsewhere for the outter tierod as their computer lists a 6CYL outer for a V8. Cost was about $110 total.

Was anything required other than shortening it and new u-joints? I take it the splines match? I'm thinking of doing this, instead of a full SYE/CV, to eliminate slight vibes with my small lift.

isn't there a dirt-cheap alternator upgrade? Why yes: http://www.bc4x4.com/tech/2004/jeepalt/

Has anyone done this? Also, is there a rebuild kit (bushings etc) you an buy to 'refresh' the bone-yard alt before installing?

I used this set up in the rear for my 8.8 I had to get a flange apapter. If you are just putting it on a dana 35 or 44, you don't need anything else for the shaft. However, this shaft will not work without an SYE.

If memory serves, the OME ZJ (and other) springs come in light, medium, and heavy duty. If you don't have the heavy duty one's, this could be contributing to the problem with the winch on the front. I believe the difference is in the diameter of the spring, but not really sure. I'll see what I can find.

Have you taken any measurements to see how far your off.

Try these -

Ford Taurus electric fan
York air compressor
HPD30 (haven't done it, but it's cheap)
Durango steering box if you need it
Homemade snorkel (Hummer style)

That is awesome. What year ford explorer did you pull it from?

Is the axle side u-joint the same from the explorer front to the jeep rear?

Also what is the advantage of durango steering box.
