And a quick pic of the skid mounted during the test fitting process:

Hopefully more to come tomorrow, as I am headed out now to go do more to it. If all goes well, we will be done tonight!!

Have you thought about adding a site tube to the TC and an external filter to the tranny?...

The joys of the Great State of Michigan and Millions of tons of road salt every winter, along with the fact that the Jeep is used for snowplowing all winter.

Where did you find the sight tube and filter set-up?

Well it's not finished, the exhaust is giving me fits. It is hitting the trackbar, and the rear edge of the skid, we have two inches of clearance at the front edge, but the way it hangs, the pipe is resting on the rear edge of the skid. We cut off all of the hangars last night, and are re-making them to move to move it around.

We stopped at 1:30 this morning and are taking a few days off from it, before we decide to fix it with a proper application of high explosives!! (Not that the wife and family would mind that, right about now. Considering the amount of time this "little" project has consumed lately. )

Some clearer pics of the skid mounted:

All done, except I am waiting on UPS for my new driveshaft. A front wheel drive Jeep SUCKS in a blizzard. After we finished it up last night I drove it home, a trip that is normally 25 minutes took 1 hour and 45 minutes. About 4-5 inches of very wet heavy slushy type snow, it was coming down so fast and hard I could see better with the headlights off.

Anyhow here are more pics.

Snow still packed into the undercarriage 12 hours later:

Snow and a good view of the trans temp sensor in the pan.

The new deep trans pan (part #P4007886AB) (Re-usable pan Gasket, part # 429587AC) :

One more unforeseen complication was that the deep trans pan would not clear the original mount location on the new skid, because of the low mount that I used for this. The solution we came up with was to cut out the forward inch of it slightly wider than the pan and flip the cut out piece back in and weld it so there was no lose of strength. In this pic you can see where the OEM mount bolts would go through the beveled section, we cut into that area in the center of the forward bolt holes and cut out the lower welds to remove the section.

From underneath, you can see where we moved the reinforcement to.

Now the Actual Clearance Gain:

Before:

After:

12" at the low point to start, and ending at 14.75" all the way across when done. Not a bad increase in clearance considering that No body lift was used for this.
