Brown Dog MM and 2.5L?

Does anyone else have the Brown Dog Motor Mounts and the 2.5L engine? I just got mine installed along with body lift and OME lift. The engine now has a really bad sound at around 3000rpms. It sounds like an import with those big exhausts.

Im wondering if anyone else has put this on their jeep and had this problem? I thought it could be a hole in the muffler, but the shop that did the lift says its due to the mounts. I was expecting more engine vibes, but this sound is aweful. I am using the rubber, not polyurethane.

Any similar experiences with other brand MM's?
Any other ideas what would cause this?

I have the 4.0 with Brown Dog rubber mounts and there are no vibes what so ever.Personally I think your shop is full of it... putting the blame on your Brown Dog motor mounts! Are they the standard mounts or lifted?

Solved!!!

So the noise was coming from the motor mounts. I loosened the through bolts and when I did, noise is gone. Now I tightened them back without torque wrench and I can still barely hear it.

How loose can I make the through bolt without it causing a problem?

Loose motor mount bolts are NOT the way i would want to solve a problem regardless of the situation that would be my LAST option to resolve the problem. Just sayin'.

THose bolts are not supposed to be real tight. I did the same thing on my old jeep and had to go back a torque them to spec. If you tighten them too tight they clamp the metal bushing and then you basically have metal on metal mounts.

check the torque specs. I can't remember but I am thinking it's 30 ft lbs???

If the locknut is in good condition, you can have it as loose as you need it to stop the vibration until you find the source of the problem. I have new locknuts if you need, but can't find one.
