Brake Chime w/Emerg. Brake Question

I just got a 2006 Unlimited. When I pull the Emerg Brake, not only does the light come on ( like it is supposed to), I get the annoying Chime along with it. According to the manual the chime should only ring when the vehicle is moving and the Emerg brake is pulled. Is this a 2006 or Unlimited thing? Should I be hearing the Chime every time ? If I wait about 20 seconds in park before pulling the brake, it does not chime. Does anyone know where I disable this stupid chime ?

I have an 05 Unlimited. It does the same thing. I just deal with it. Good luck finding out how to disconnect it.

My 2003 TJ does the same thing. If the brake is engaged and the jeep starts to roll the bell chimes. I guess it's a safety feature and keeps you from burning up your e brake.

Pretty sure it's an '05 '06 thing. My '03 only beeps at me if I pull it while I'm still rolling.

Ya, my 05 Unlimited does the same thing. Come to a full stop, pull up the brake and the chiming starts, very annoying.

I got an 05 unlimited. It seems to chime longer if it's in gear or the clutch pedal is depressed goes away after a few seconds. It's a PIA but I live with it. By now if it didn't chime I'd think something was wrong.

It's an '05+ thing. I noticed it when I drove a '05 to feel out the 6 speed. Pretty annoying, glad my '04 doesn't do it.

that's weird??? I was driving home the other day in my 02' Sahara and the chime went off... so I check the ebrake... nope it's down as far as possible, wiggle the seatbelt I am wearing and it's attached.. I don't know what caused it to go off, but it finally quit after 10 secs or so.

You sometimes get the chime and the light if your brake fluid is low

I get the chime, also. Did it last night when I pulled into my driveway after work: pulled in, stopped, applied the emergency brake and BEEEEP!

Mine chimes 5 times - I think - then it quits...until I put it in gear and try to move without releasing the break. Never thought about disabling it; mainly because the only time it chimes is to remind me that it is engaged. I imagine that the initial chime is to notify you that the break has been pulled - which is good. I keep a hat tucked down between the seat and the break. On the occasions that my wife is riding with me and I have the top down (the jeeps) she always grabs the hat to keep her hair from being tangled. There have been times that she has caught the break handle and engaged it (just a click or two) when reaching for the hat - I would have never known without that annoying little chime. Just a little story to help justify it.
