BPE's????? Advice
I bet this is not the first post for a front end click, and will probably not be the last, but my jeep only makes the sound in 4wd and when turning. Its not real loud ...I can only hear it with the window open. Im thinking its time for some BPE's, but i want to be sure because i only get home a few weekends a month to work on my jeep, seeing how med school controls my life, so I want to fix it the first time... and ideas would be greatly appreciated. New u joints in front DS and the axle U-joints look ok Only makes it in the cold weather.

IMHO best designed BPEs on the market
IRON ROCK OFF ROAD: Bar Pin Eliminating Shock Relocation Brackets (Front or Rear) But not sure if BPEs will be the fix, lot's of things could cause a front end click. |

We've run the Currie (JKS) BPEs for abut 20K miles now. No issues. We did use a couple small O.D / large I.D. washers with them for additional bushing pre-load as seen here:

To the OP I doubt BPE's are going to be your problem. I would look at the tcase linkage before going out and buying BPE's. |

I have a bracket on the linkage that is supposed to eliminate the binding if that is what your speaking to. Should i be looking at something else?

Ever wonder why the sounds come from the drivers side and not the passenger side? They both have shocks, wouldnt the sound be coming from both sides if it were the BPE's? Personally I havent figured it out either, I think it might have something to do with the tcase linkage being mounted to the body, even with a bracket you can still generate noise. I really think your wasting money on the BPE's and will still have the problem.

With the IRO BPE's you don't have to remove the 2 shock bolts that always seem prone to snapping, especially the rears. Once you install the bpe, the only thing you have to worry about is the cross bolt that runs through the shock.

Exactly, but not just removing the shock bolts. Especially on the XJ(I can't remember what the TJs were like), if you break the rear uppers, it is a royal pain to fish new bolts in there, then you have to try and get a wrench in there every time you change shocks. The JKS BPEs do nothing to simplify that.

The TJ's are a little easier than the XJ.. only in that you don't have to cut large holes in the floor of the trunk to get to them, but you usually have to remove the body mounts and lift the tub up a few inches.

I am lucky enough to have great mechanics hands, and haven't had to cut any holes in the cargo area yet, I can usually get my hand in there far enough to slip in the new bolts, but not without some scrapes.
