Bolt in cage?
Is OR-FAB still the only game in town when it comes to that style bolt-in cage? Is there a reason no one else makes one?
I realize Rock Hard makes one too, but what happened to all the OR-FAB/ Poison Spyder/Toys by Troy cages? I don't like the Rock Hard cage, and have had nothing but terrible customer service from OR-FAB, but still want a cage.

I absolutely love my rock hard cage. It's just a ***** when I have to remove the top dash panel. I had to loosen the clamps and slide my dash bar up, but in the process i scratched the **** out of the powder coat paint

I don't like Rock Hard because of the clamps and because they use too much of the stock cage. It's completely different from the type of bolt-in cage I'm referring to.
The others, in my opinion, were better. I just want to know why I can't get one (even OR FAB says they are on back order, and they have for 6 months or more). If there's a market for them, why isn't anyone else making one? |

You might look into a to z fabrication but I think it is weld in. I'm sure backorder will be a common issue this time of year since most businesses try to get rid of their inventory at the end of the year.

I take it that since the only people to respond, did so with Rock Hard and a weld in cage, that a bolt-in cage, other than Rock Hard, is virtually non-existent.
Now the question is why. |

Have you tried calling the vendors and asking?
Also are you asking about a complete bolt in cage, or a sport cage? |

Why are you saying or fab has bad customer service?
I just got my Or Fab cage and love it. I think it took a month from the date of order till it was sitting on my door step. I ordered the bicycle black finish whihc they dsay takes a few extra weeks to get out. I knew that going in so I was prepared to wait. The cage is well designed and the fit and finish are awesome. The only issue I had was they reuse the dash bolts and with the thickness of the material the bolts made contact with my doors. I fixed that with some flat head Allen bolts and a drill.

No pics i will try to get some tonight but basically i just used a metal 45degree counter sink drill bit from the home depot and some 1/4-20 1" long flat allen head screw.
Drilled out the plate and the put the screws in. |

I was all set to get a bolt-in sport cage last summer, and had at least 5 or 6 to choose from. (Sorry, the list is long gone, and I never bought due to switching to 'no unneeded spending mode.') Incidently, I had decided on the Or-Fab due to the design and the price. |

How can fit and finish be "awesome" and "well designed", but then have issues? I'm not bashing, but either it's well designed or it's not. Quote:
Toys by Troy - out of business Poison Spyder - new owner has no interest in making sport cages (at least that's what they told me when I called and asked). So think harder. |

Poly performance, M.O.R.E., Genright, Rockhard 4x4 and OR-Fab. Are the only manufactures that have survied that have a bolt in cage. Granted the Genright and Poly cages are FULL cages. They are bolt in. As for the last 3, MORE, Rock Hard and OR-Fab, they are just the front section. You don't linke Rock Hard because of the clamp deal. I agree with you ther. So then you have 2 to pic form OR Fab or MORE. For me, the fit and finish of the OR Fab unit is excellent, I just disagreed with the way they set up mounting the unit to the dash. But i hardly ever leave anything stock, so i changed it. It wasn't necessary, a little clearancing would have done it, honestly the bolts just BARLEY touched the door paint. I completely understand why they set it up this way so it's not a negative thing. Honestly you sound like you want us to do your research. It's called Google, try it. |

For clarification, neither Polyperfomance or Genright sells a bolt-in cage.
Unless I'm missing something, all they sell are un-welded cages. I suppose that after you weld it together, you certainly can bolt it in. But that's not what I'm looking for. Thanks for the MORE suggestion, that's exactly what I was looking for. Again, I'm not interested in giving OR-FAB more of my money, but I'm happy to hear it's working out for you. |

I also received an email from Poison Spyder, and they are again selling cages. To Why J, they would be bolt-in cages, but only after you weld it together. Doesn't look like they will be selling the old version, bolt-in sport cage in the near future. |

ORFab great fit and finish and got mine 2 days after ordering (a couple months ago). I thought I had the door fitment issue described in a few posts above, but that's when I figured out the correct order of the various layers on the dash mount bolts. ORFab bolts in use, no issues at all with the door.
