Body lift, Motor mount lift questions
Ok so I am about to do my BDS 2 inch BL. I also wanted to do a motor mount lift and was looking at the mounts from Browndog. Should I get the 2 inch motor mount lift as well since I'm doing 2 BL?
Also does anyone forsee any problems I might run into? I don't know of anyone that has done a 2 inch MML so I have no idea what problems if any that could pose. Thanks

I have the browndog 1" mml. if you have a factory intake piece where it connects to the throttle body you may run into clearance issues with the hood. Mine pushes the windshield washer sprayer out of it's hole. Other than that get used to extra vibration and noise until the mounts break in.

A 1" pushes the top of the engine pretty close to the top of the hood, never heard of a 2" MML, seems like it would cause other issues, particularly with your transfer case linkage.

So can I do a 1' mml with a 2' body lift? Or do they have to be the same?

Yes you can, will need to adjust your fan shroud, personally I would go with the JKS 1.25" BL then you don't have to worry about all the other issues that come with a 2" lift and the fan shroud will not need adjusting.

i would also go with the 1.25 BL or even the 1 "BL. I have the 1" motor mounts from Browndog with my performance acc. 1" BL and works fine. esp a 4 cyl with those mounts you will have some vibrations comin from them. another MML is MORE if you want to look into those. also you might need to get a new 05 shifter boot if the shifter is hanging in 2nd after the MML and the BL

Just an update....
I ordered a JKS 1.25 and BMML from Northridge yesterday so I guess I'll be selling my BDS BL. Just more than I wanted to deal with doing the 2It appears to be a much easier install.

Shouldn't have any problems installing the JKS BL. I did mine the other day and it went pretty smooth. The motor mount lift was another story. I saw you have a 99 so im not sure where you ac compressor is, but mine is pretty much right next to the drivers side motor mount and requires a complete removal of the engine bracket, instead of just undoing the motor mount and sliding it underneat.
A couple other problems i ran into is that my engine shifted while we were doing the lift and now we have to reallign it somehow so we can bolt everything back in place. It was also hard to reach a couple of the bolts just because things were in the way so i had to use about a foot extension on the ratchet to reach the bolt and get some torque behind it. Just take it slow and really look at what your doing so it doesn't turn into a big mess like mine! good luck! |

Don't forget to loosen the 4 bolts holding the T/F case

What are all the Pros and Cons of a 1.25" BL and 1" MML? I've heard so so so many people tell me to never get a body lift, but then don't explain why. And all the MML is for is to fix the angle of the rear DS, right?
What complications has anyone run into with these? Any regrets? If you had a second chance?
