Blower Motor Resistor HOT HOT!

Hi all,

I have a 97 Wrangler SE and the blower motor resistor is getting HOT.... almost to the point of melting the plug and wires attached to it. Tried a new resistor and had the same problem. Any ideas where to look next?

HELP!
Dave

A bad blower motor will increase the amperage draw and can cause this

yup, id agree. there is obviously more amps being drawn through the circuit than te resistor, plug, and wires were meant to handle. If the blower fan was obstructed by foreign material it would cause this.
