BL With An Auto Trans

I just got an 04 Rubi a couple days ago and my mind is already thinking MODs . My question is with an auto transmission does a BL mess with the shifter linkage? I know on my TJ w/ a 5spd shifting into 2nd, 4th, & rev was affected.

Just a 1" body lift should not mess with the linkage.

Mine works fine with 2" bl

hypothetically, the auto tranny shift linkage is long enough for a 4 or 5 inch bl (not that there is such a thing.)

you should have no problems with any size bl.

Shifter linkage is a cable. you can do any bl and not worry about it in reference to a auto.

Like igofshn said, its a cable.

And the shifter is bolted to the body, so it goes up with the body lift.

You don't have to do anything.

Then, is it necessary to disconnect the shift linkage under the driver's side carpet before installing the body lift, or is that only for the manuals?

When I did my BL on my 02 I didn't need to do anything but the pucks. It was a 1" lift and everything worked great (lucked out and didn't have to adjust the TC linkage either).

The only linkage effected will be the tcase linkage.

that would be t-case linkage and it's identical between auto and manual.

For me, its difficult to put it in 4 lo, but I think it was not so easy stock either. Maybe you should try 4lo a couple of times so you can tell if its any harder. Theres discussion on here of how to adjust the bar (linkage) if there is a snag. Also Advance Adapters makes a bracket for a fix. That said, I have an 04 Sport with a body lift, and I can get 4lo, but its work. I did put on the linkage bracket that came with the BL. (Teraflex) If those help or not is probably different between Jeeps, like so much else, its trial and error to get things right. Good Luck.

Jeep junky lookin for a fix...
