The bestop bikini I have actually lets you use them or not. There is velcro for if you don't use them, and a rubber strip to put in the surrounds if they're on.
what im planning on doing this summer is im gonna try to find a second pair at a junk yard and remove the lower half and only use the top section with the bikini top....just a thought.
Do you have to use the door surrounds when you use the bikini top? I hate to use them with the top off because those things are worth their weight in gold and I'd hate for them to walk off someday when I'm not around.
I take mine off and leave them at home. It is a PITA to put Bikini on with surrounds on. Very, very, very tight fit. It takes me forever to get it on. If the surrounds are off, I can have the top on in less than 10 minutes and it looks better. I gotta say when it is cold out, it is Nice to have the surrounds on so the windows fit snug. But the answer is Yes, at least with the Bestop bikini's
