Better to build up D30 or swap it?

Without going Pirate and swaping for mog's, what is the best option for beefing up the front axle? Do I even need to bother before I have it locked?

The D30 stands up pretty well to being locked with 35" tires but if you wheel in difficult conditions, going with stronger axleshafts is a good upgrade. Alloy USA makes good axleshaft upgrades, so does Warn which also has a good manual hub kit that comes in real handy. I installed Warn's hardened chromolly 4340 axleshafts and manual hubs several years ago together with a Powertrax locker and feel my front D30 axle is pretty well up to handling most trails.

Here's my receipe for what I'm going to slowly put together.

XJ HP 30
ARB
Warn inner axles
Warn 4.5 hub kit
Warn stubs
CTM U joints
Alloy USA seals
Currie Steering

It'll take a while to do($$), but I won't have to worry about axle problems with what I personally do with my rig.

Is the XJ hp 30 a 5 on 5.5 or 5 on 4.5 lug pattern?
