I sure love the quality, strength, and design of my AtoZ front stubby bumper which also has an integrated winch mount. There's a writeup on it at http://reviews.jeepforum.com/showproduct.php?product=272&cat=24

I am personnally going to save up for the Hanson bumpers, both front and rear, then get the OR-Fab Tire carrier.
Hanson is EXPENSIVE, but so far they are the ones I like.

Sexy. Very sexy... for a guy like me that has plans to do a stubby bumper with flat fenders this is nice.

I've got the HighRock's front and back. They were a little pricey (even more so now) but I really liked the integrated features and the look.

Man, this turned out to be a great thread! I really like all the pics everyone posted, I like the AtoZ, the Highrock, the Rampage, all very cool and unique in there own right. The Rokmen seems like the best value so far though. Man I'm really torn.

So you decided on one yet?
Pssst don't forget Garvin. It saved the front of my Jeep in an accident last July. Girl ran a red light from my left, hit the front bumper and it gouged down the side of her car, tearing off her front bumper, rear fender, rear bumper, front fender and gouging down the doors. Not a single bend, scratch or ding. Not bad for a car that was going 50 mph. Everyone who owns them says they're tough as nails. Railroad spikes, really

Not Yet, it will be tough decision, I'm hoping to sell my tubular stuff first, if not, no biggie as I get nice bonus coming up in march for last year
. I'm leaning toward a stubby bumper with a winch guard like the Rokman or the AtoZ Fab Bumper, saw some nice pics on here that have helped quite a bit. Awesome thread.

There's a million different options out there for the TJ... I would start off by listing your functional requirements and then find the best looking option that meets those.
Functionally, my Road Armor offers: Full width protection Steering Box Skid Plate 1" thick recovery tabs Winch Mount 4 recessed light mounts Tubular "pre-runner" guard 45 degree upward slope on the front end. Open access to the front cross member. Visually, it looks tough as hell. I love it. In the time I've owned it, saved my Jeep from going end-over-end in the dunes, after I came over a dune too fast thinking it would have a plateau and found out it was a slip face on both sides. Landed nose first and went back to look at the dune, I'd left marks in the sand from the bumper. Had it been a standard bumper with a flat front to it - I believe it would have dug in and be enough to flip me over. The boat-like front end of the Road Armor worked brilliantly there. Then I had a head-on collision with another TJ. My Jeep is back on the road, the other TJ was a complete write-off. In both cases, even my fog lights survived ![]() ![]() ![]() It's big, it's heavy, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Note that my fenders are not stock, and have been raised up, which may make the bumper look bigger than it really is. The Chassis is behind the angled part of the bumper. The flat front of my bumper is higher than the chassis. |

I'll contribute. Choosing a front bumper is like choosing your tires. There are a lot of factors to consider. There isn't a "best bumper".
I sold my ARB Bullbar, and picked up this new bumper from www.hell-bentfabrication.com Again, this bumper fits my needs. It may not fit yours. It's got the radiator hoop, winch guard, 2 pull-tabs, and it's fully boxed. Also it mounts with 10 bolts. Solid. Pics are poor quality, but their website shows it well. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by RYANSTULC; 02-29-2008 at 10:53 AM.. |
