You will find as many opinions about that as you will find people willing to respond.

My best advice: Search around the forum, do some homework, figure what will work best for you and what you want out of your jeep. Once you have a few choices narrowed down, ask specific questions and talk to people running the same setup to get their input. Then decide for yourself.

Here we go

prediction: alot of people will tell you the re 3.5 sf will be the best option for you. Then someone will come in and say that full traction or skyjacker would be a better option for someone on a budget. Then someon will say the OME is the best option if you plan on doing most on road driving..... and then some one is going to bring up short arm vs long arm and how long arm rides better in general, then they'll mention how they are super expensive which will make the argument moot in your case. Then someone will bring up a BB, then someone will comment on re fan boyism.

Then whyen it's all said and done and you have your 3 inch lift you will want a 4 or 5 inch lift and bigger tires to go with it. That's my prediction

You forgot the typical short-arm vs long-arm vs short-then-upgrade-to-long arguments...

The best lift is always the one just over your budget.

Seriously though, If I was going to do a budget lift I would look into OME 2.5" springs and OME shocks. For the last year and a half I had a RE2" budget boost and RE monotube shocks and I hated the ride the shocks gave me. Last month I put in some OME shocks and it rides better than it did before the lift.

Im possibly getting a used OME kit tomorrow. A few people on here pointed me in that direction. If money is a factor then be patient and shop the used part sections of multiple forums.

Budget and OME don't belong in the same sentence. But, Squeeky, was about on the dot as far as this thread will go.

I have the RE standard 3.5" lift kit...Mine is just a DD...It works well for what I needed...The only problem that I had with it is the Rear drive line vibes...Even with a T-case drop it still was bad...Had to have a SYE and CV drive shaft...The other thing you might need is Upper ADJ rear control ams for pinion setting...Good luck with your choices...You have a lot to think about...

A 3" suspension lift will be a little easier on the budget since you are less likely to need an SYE, driveshaft, and adjustable upper control arms.

The RE 3.5" lift is closer to 4 - 4.5" on most TJs.

How about a 2" BB and a 1" Body Lift and MML? With shocks that's gotta be no more than $350
