Best Bolt-On Cage?

Ok. I have the money and now I want a Roll Cage (Sport Cage) I dont know how to weld and dont want to spend the money to have someone weld it for me so I want to go with the Bolt-On style Sport Cage. Here is my questions. What it the best bolt-on sport cage for the money and where is the best place to buy?

I have been looking and I like the Or-Fab sport cage with the dash bar, streamer bars, and frame tie-in kit. 4x4groupbuy.com has the cage part for $299, and the other accessories for a little more. Is that a good cage? I do wheel a couple times a month, nothing to hairy Hollister once and awhile and the occasional run the the mountains in the Tahoe National Forrest for camping. So would this fit my needs? Thanks.

Rockhard4x4 and OR-Fab are your main choices for bolt-in. Replacing the windshield bars should be a key point.

roll cages

MORE also has them.

I was looking at the rock hard one but honestly I don't think I need that many bars. At more than 1/2 the price the OR fab one looks decent, takes away the windshield as a main support point and adds another bar over your head. (It also comes painted).

If you wanted a more complete cage I would debate the rock hard.

But for the purpose of getting rid of the windshield support design, the OR fab seems to be a good deal. After looking at it that is the one I think I am going to go with in a couple of months. And then perhaps buy the rockhard across the rear bar for like 110 bucks to add some rigidity to the rear.

make sure whichever you get does retain the windshield mount. you don't want to remove the windshield holding mechanism, but you do want to reinforce the cage with something that will actually support the passenger compartment.

I've seen the MORE cage in action and it held up great. Be sure to get the frame tie-ins for the front hoop.

I'd look at rockhard4x4's. Looks great and is pretty strong. Just an addition to factory one, but is seriously strong.

the cage isn't all that holds the windshield.

ORF has tabs to tie the top back to the cage. I had an ORF before going weld in. I didn't like the reuse of the stock bars over the door.

im running the front half of rockhard cage, we decided to weld the barcs across the rear, my next step is to replace the bar that attaches to the windsheild

Just ordered the base Or Fab kit. Not the strongest option, but for $299-, I figured it will be much better than stock. I'm not going with the dash bar as it slighlty hinders vision out the windshield (even though others told me it wouldn't). I may have some simple gussets welded in for grab handles eventually.

The Rock Hard kit also seems to be very well liked.

I just picked up a slightly used Toys by Troy cage and noticed that it does not reconnect to the upper corners of the windshield. Does this affect the structural integrity of the windshield?

true, but it a big part

The ORF is a popular choice tho & good to see they retain the windshield attachment.

no. The windshield is no longer part of the cage at that point.
