BDS 2'' or OME 2/2.5'' lift

These are the two lifts which I have narrowed down my selection to, after I have looked long and hard since last august when I purchased the Jeep. 97TJ everything stock, 225 tires, 3.07 gears unfortunately. Want to run 31's with some room to flex, with ability to move up to 32/33's in future with a 1'' BL.

Both kits include:
new coil springs (the best part since mine are 10 yrs old and sagging)
New shocks (Ive read about both kits, ride as good/better than stock)


www.redrock4x4.com has OME kit for $660, no extra parts than 4x4connection,
same at DPG offroad for $660, although with T-case drop kit (diff between DPG/OME shocks--why the choice?)

OME kit: $560 HD/MD/LD all same price
As for the OME kit, on 4x4 connection, it doesnt include t-case spacer, but the price is so much lower than other places where I have seen it, where its usually between $650 and $750, where at 4x4 connection it is 'on sale' at $560 but normally priced at $589. What Gives? Rather, is 4x4 connection leaving anything out of the kit?

I know the OME lift kit is regarded as the ultimate ride, but I have talked to those with the BDS kit who say it rides great too. I would guess I would net 2.5'' to 3'' from these kits with the sagging springs, maybe more with the OME kit. With My gears, doesnt make since to move up past 31's right now, but I was also considering adding a 1/1.25'' BL and MML to get rid of possible vibes with a little more lift.

Is the OME kit absolutely worth the price?
Or should I save $200 and get BDS???
would be enough for a BL and MML ~ 3'' lift total
Both are well reputed companies, I know BDS has a lifetime warranty.

I know it comes down to my choice, but any input would be appreciated, I am so close to purchasing a lift for the summer.

Looks like the OME includes panhard rod (track bar) brackets to recenter the axles. And bumpstop extensions.

Go with the DPG Offroad kit. Dirk is an awesome guy and will build a custom kit for you. If I had more money, I would've bought one of everything from him.

I went with a 2" BB, less than 2 months later it was sitting on my garage table while I was putting a 2.5" OME HD setup in. I assembled my own from different vendors as I wanted to put on adjustable trackrods on at the same time and was hoping to get away without doing a TC drop (didn't happen). Just wasn't happy with the 2", the OME kit gave me just over 3" with the soft top on.

Yep, thats what I figured would happen, so I am going to skip over the BB altogether. Now its just which coil lift.........

I have the 2' BDS in my '05 TJ. I got 2 3/4" of lift out of it with a soft top and my original springs only had 3,400 miles on them. I bought an OME rear track bar bracket for $35 and left the front alone. It's fine for now, but I'm going to go with an adjustable front in the near future. I also bought some RE 1.5" rear bump stops for $25 from a member here just for precautionary measures. I love the ride of BDS, but the final choice has to be yours. Good luck with the confusion.

I have heard from some people that OME rear springs give out prematurely and need to be replaced. is this true?

I got the 2" BDS springs and the OME shocks from DC4wd for $500.00 shipped to my front door. I couldnt be happier with the combo. I added 32 x 11.50 BFG's on my Canyons with wheel spacers. Perfect set up for me. Oh I yeilded a solid 2.5" from the lift.

Any reason for getting OME shocks instead of BDS shocks, Ive been told both have a better ride than stock.

x2 on DPG and OME

As far as BDS vs OME.... OME is the king of the hill when it comes to ride quality.

Just make sure you get springs appropriate for the weight of your vehicle and the expectation of lift. I had to go OME 930 (XJ) front springs due to a winch, and still had to add a 3/4" spacer up front.

if you check bds website they will list your closest dealer mine offers bds 2in for 310$. I know everyone swears by ome but thats 300$ or more price diff we are talking. Make your own decisions.
