back up lights problem

The backup lights work, but only when the shifter is halfway between reverse and neutral. Where is the switch located for the lights, and is it adjustable?

Not adjustable and its the park neutral on the auto trans. On the trans itself. Make sure your linkage isn't out of adjustment ( it is adjustable- but chances are that if you can start in park & neutral, it is adjusted ok)
