Will Dana 44s out of a 2003 Rubicon bolt right in to my 2002 wrangler TJ? I currently have Dana 30 front Dana 35 rear, everything stock. My current gear ratio is 307 the 44s are 410 with lockers front an rear. With the rear having disc brakes. Will the drive shafts I have work, or they need to be changed. I'm sure the brake lines will need to be modified. I have a 3in. lift 33x12.5 x15 . 4.0 with the 5 speed trans.
New to Forum thanks in advance. John
parking brake cables are different...a friend just went thru the EXACT swap on his 2002 RM TJ. Best to ask to keep the Ebrake cables on the D44s if possible.
Locker pumps from dealer are like $150 each...Rear shaft will need to be shortened , you will need conversion ujoints OR modify yokes to fit to tcase and rear diff...
Thanks for all the good information Guys. I wasn't able to buy the axles, I was number two in line for them and the first buyer got them. I think I will regear What I have , with 456s install TruTrac and heavy duty axles.
for your 33s that will work.
you will also have a better gear ratio, and better ground clearance.
unless the rubi axles were real cheap, you saved a bunch of cash.
when u shop for axle parts, look into revolution axle and gear.
top notch stuff! try 4lowparts.com, spent a bunch their last year, good guys!
