Axle brackets ane axle width

My father recently acquired a dodge ramcharger that has a dana 44 front and a 9 1/4 rear. I want to narrow these axle's to fit my jeep (what is the width) and would need to know where I can order the correct brackets to weld on the new axle's. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanx

i know you can find a bracket kit made by either rubicon express and MORE. i think the prices are about the same for the two manufactures (approx $250)

they are not a pefect fit to your axle tubes most likely so a little grinding will be necessary before welding them up.

That price is for the rear only. They probably have them for the front too, contact Rubicon Express or M.O.R.E. to see what they have.

just a silly question, but isn't a ramcharger a pass. side drop front axle?

no, dodge has driver drop

i would run them full width then if you need to be street legal get rims with less back spacing

The front 44 measure's out at 65", my stock 30 measures out at 55". 5" a side is way too much to make up in just backspacing. It would be easy to put them on how they are however, I can cut the slack of the ends and press new ends on. I really wanted to know stock axle widths for the 35 rear and 30 front (I took a generic measurment). I also need to figure out what size ready made axle shaft will fit if I narrow the new diffs. It is a lot of reaserch unless one of you know

TJ axles are 59.5" WMS to WMS. But you might be better off to run them at something like 60 or 61 inches. If you want to put together a project of this size then you might as well help yourself out with some extra track width.

And yes RE does sell both front and rear bracket kits and they will probably run you about 600 for all of them.

Have you done any checking locker and gear options on that 9.25? I know that is not an all too common axle that gets built. As far as shafts go I don't know if you will find anyone that has TJ stock length shafts for that rear axle either. But I bet Dynatrac or Superior will make you custom axle shafts for your application.

Rusty's also makes TJ brackets.

Last I remember, they are a little cheaper than most others (around $225). He can also make them specifically for the axle, so you shouldn't have to grind them to fit.

well, not to beat a dead horse, but my friend came over tonight and he has an old ramcharger and it is pass. side drop. i dont know what year it is, i forgot to ask, but it was a pass. side drop front axle.
