autozone clutch

i'm about to order a clutch from autozone i have an nv3550 i'm worried that they are gonna give me the clutch to the ax-15. They say for that year there is only one clutch its an 01. Are the auto zone clutches half way decent??

You are better off getting one here...

http://www.dialaclutch.com/dac-demo/search.asp

Cheapest price around, and the best clutch option for the TJ in many opinions.

I agree on using www.dialaclutch.com/ as they are knowledgeable and quick. I'd go for the Luk OE clutch kit which is real hard to beat, especially for the price (complete kit with everything for my '97 was $130).

How many miles are on your clutch? A 2001 is pretty new to be needing a clutch already. I just finally replaced my '97 TJ's clutch that had 167,000 miles on it.

Just looked at those prices... good for a clutch, way too much $$$ for a master cylinder.

Did the OP say he needed a master cylinder? My TJ didn't need one when I replaced its clutch.

I put in my dial a clutch and it says on the Box OEM quality i'm not to satisfied. Its got the most girly pedal compared to stock. I'll get used to it but i do prefer a hard pedal.

That's odd. When I installed mine, the pedal was actually a tad bit more stiff...

The Luk OEM version is better in this case than the Luk Gold series. I was about to go with the Gold, afterall why not go with what appears to be the upgraded version, but I did a little research first. What I found is that the Gold is meant more for heavier vehicle applications and is noisier in the Wrangler with no real additional benefit.

My "OE-quality" Luk clutch I got from www.dialaclutch.com is plenty stiff enough, it works great. Having gotten 167,000 miles out of the original Luk OE clutch that Jeep installs on new Jeeps, with it still in fine condition when I changed it, I figure to get that much out of this one.

Yeah that bug is pesky isn't it.

So far as using other brands of clutches goes, I had such incredibly good performance and results out of the factory-installed OE clutch made by Luk that I wasn't about to go try something else. 167,000+ miles out of a clutch that had been literally smoked many times while rock crawling? Why would anyone feel the need to try an unknown clutch when the OE clutch works so well?
