I am wanting to put either a 5.2 or 5.9 Dodge engine in my 2001 TJ. Will my automatic bolt up to either of these engines?

Does the 2001 TJ automatic have the same bell housing bolt pattern as the TF727,TF904,TF999?
Thanks

The bigger question is if you have the 30RH transmission used with the 2.5L engine which isn't up to being behind the 5.2L or 5.9, or the 32RH that the 4.0L engine uses that is.

That means you have the 32RH which should be. Chrysler has used members of the Torqueflite 999 auto transmission family behind lots of V8 engines, and the 32RH is a member of that venerable TF999 family.

The "2" in 32RH is the input torque rating. Note that most transmissions used behind the V-8s have at least a "4" or a "5" in place of that "2". That isn't to say that your 32RH couldn't be built to handle the power - it's basically an A904 with a lockup torque converter, and there's plenty of beefed up parts available for this trans. If you use the 32RH, just exercise a little restraint with the gas pedal.

Auto trans
Here's my thinking, I bought a Turbo kit and decided not too use it because of the heat. Sitting in traffic or offroad at a snailes pace the heat would kill the engine and electronics so my kit is going on Ebay. So my friends talked me into putting a 5.2 or 5.9 instead of the turbo. At 250-290 HP and 300+ lbs of torque and will run all day long without heat issues. Plus their going to help install it and they have a professional shop with asym. lifts. If I can use the trans in my Jeep that would save a few dollars for now so I can purchase a very low mileage engine and computer. I will run the trans in my jeep untill it gives up and have it built strong or replace it all together. I will keep you posted

Hey guys Iam totally confused, I was told that my bell housing is AMC pattern and a Dodge pattern. Hell, Me I don,t know I was a driveability mechanic. Advanced adapters also has a kit that you can bolt a small block Gen I to a TF727.TF999.

Trans low down
I talked with Advanced adapters awhile ago they said that RE32 is the same bolt pattern as the TF. But the best way too do the swap would be get motor and trans and computer as a package or put a STD. trans in it. I said ok then. Now I go shopping .
