Automatic Trans - shifts hard
Has anyone else noticed when shifting your atumatic transmission it seems to shift really hard and causes the jeep to squat. It is a very obvious hard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=. NOt while driving but just when shift to any gear while sitting still. It is better if I allow the engine RPM's to drop of course but it is still a hard shift. I always figured it was attributed the the short drive shaft and short tranfer of power from the engine to the driveline. It might be nothing and be a normal attitude of Jeep automatics but I thought I would just ask. Thanks everyone.

I like to let mine idle down a little bit on a cold start, but I can't say it shifts into drive or reverse with a bang. In fact, it just eases into those gears. How old is your rig? If it's new, you might want to visit the dealer. Mines 3 weeks old and it slides seemlessly into drive and reverse -- always has.

My '01 does the same thing. It's easy to get it to shift into gear, but it does so abrubtly. It's like the Jeep is telling you "OK, Let's go!".

Im pretty sure it is what you said about the drive shaft and all, i have a 99 and it does it too, but i dont think its too much to worry about.
