aussie lockers

So I posted an earlier thread asking if i should get selectable or an auto locker. I might have decided to get aussie's front and rear but i wanted to hear from some people who havw them or know of some people who do. Is the rear going to bother me since this is my daily driver? and is the front going to kill me in the winter? thanks

While an Aussie is a good choice (equal to the Lockrite) for the front end, it would not be good in the rear. For the rear, you need to be more careful in your choice of locker because the rear axle is always under load which keeps the locker locked up much harder so it doesn't unlock reliably while you're turning left or right. Which causes lurching, banging, etc., especially in low-speed maneuvers like in a parking lot.

So in the rear, the best "lunchbox" style (which the Aussie & Lockrite are) locker is the Powertrax No-Slip. Of the lunchbox lockers, the No-Slip is the only one you'd not learn to hate within the first day. It costs more but in the rear it's the only good choice so far as an automatic lunchbox locker goes.

But in the winter, all bets are off if you need to drive in 4wd to get around. On roads that are slick from ice or snow, a pair of automatic lockers can be pretty scary when you're in 4wd. For those conditions, you're really better off with a selectable locker like an ARB Air Locker.

Or if your offroading needs aren't all that strenuous, perhaps a Truetrac limited slip differential front and rear? More expensive but the Truetrac can't be beat on an icy road.

I have aussies front and rear in my 01 sport , I daily drive it... for the price, and ease of installation, it works for me, and it snows here.
