FYI, I talked to the engineer again today after he'd looked at the pics, and he said yeah, he was really confused because the windshield washer bottle and even the horn bracket on the shop TJ (2006, actually, same year as mine) is completely different, a totally different shape with a different number and placement of mounting locations. I don't know wtf was going on at Jeep that they'd do that, but that explains why he was scratching his head at my descriptions over the phone. I should've thought to send him a picture message.

Apparently they're taking the differences on mine and will be figuring out a way to accommodate both setups out of the box so no drilling or fab work is required, even that fairly minor work I had to do to. That right there is a good example of why I've been so impressed with these guys.

They look nice man. You should bring the jeep up to WFTW in Hidden Falls on the 24-25. I'll be up there.

dippert,
I'll try to get some pictures of mine (4" flare) up this evening. I am running 33x12.50s on 4" of lift and it may give you an idea of what to expect. Though they do swallow the 33s, they do not make them look tiny. Think high speed, extreme suspension travel off road race truck look and you get an idea. I am happy to stay on the 33s until I can do 35s "right" and so do not feel inclined to jump the gun and push the tire swap. I was holding off on posting my impressions until Firekite's review as I knew his would be more complete, and I did not want to steal any of his thunder. I am at work now and unable to get into too much detail, but I will say that my install went even easier. Everything bolted onto the inner fenders with not so much as a single new hole drilled and I did it by myself in about 5 hours actual work time...Maybe less. I am sure that is a result of the difference between the 97 and 2k. I will say they are an outstanding product all the way around! UPS says the rears get here tomorrow and I will post impressions of those as soon as I get them on.

Nice write-up. You had all the same issues that I did. I.E. Washer bottle and horn. Good to see Metalcloak finally started powder coating the battery brackets and accessory bracket, when I got mine they were not powder coated like the fenders. Good to see they are listening to customer feed back. I am looking forward to the new marker light they are coming out with. What size hole is in the fenders now. The one in my old style 2nd gen fender is 1 inch. That's why I put my turn signals in the grill cause I could not find a 1 inch LED. I am interested in seeing what the gusset with the M in it looks like when you get in to some mud. I imagine it will look like one of those Play-Doh presses. Black fender with a brown M squishing out. LOL. You need to get a pic, if it happens. I will be looking forward to seeing these at Longs.

StormTrooper05, I'm very seriously considering doing the CJ-style mod you did, with the signal lights in the grill under the headlights. I'll wait to see how the MetalCloak light solution works first, though, as it may be plenty.

I must say nice write up, I really feel that these will be the tube fenders I go with, I really like the look and clearance obtained. Plus I have an 06 thats red about same height on 33's and they just look wonderful on 35's . Time to stock piling the change. Great job Firekite liked the write up gave me a lot more of an idea of what to do.

Well it seems I got the new Metal Cloak owner jinx and lost my internet connection like Firekite did. I took a few pictures yesterday, but could not upload them until now. Here are a few that I hope will give some idea of how the fenders look on a little different set-up. Please excuse the heinous nerf bars, they are going soon.

And a "before" picture.
