I had a jasper in my bronco, liked the warranty, hated the block. It was constantly goin back into the shop and I used the hell out of the warranty. I got a booklet of receipts. Who knows maybe I just got a bad block.

My folks put a Jasper V6 in a GMC Safari van. Lasted longer than the one GM put in there in 1989. A Jasper rebuild is my plan when my 112k 4.0 eventually bites the dust (hopefully 100k or more from now!)

Another Jeep Noob ...

for the price of a jasper you can get a stroker motor from Titan or Golen. look them up...they offer the same warranty for their strokers as jasper does for a stock one! 3yr/36000mi

they might be a little more expensive im not sure what kind of price you can get on a jasper. titan charges $2500 i believe for a 4.6 260hp motor

If you want an original 4.0, go to RMP http://www.powertrainsolutions.com/ Thats where i got mine. It was $1700 with a complete gasket kit. It took us about a weekend and a keg of beer to get it in. RMP does AA's reman motors and Chevy and Ford's factory reman motors Jasper is expensive and not as good as everyone thinks

I've heard Titan is junk, but I cant say from first hand experience, I know nothing abut golen.

I can't speak for their 4.0s, but I got a jasper longblock for my 89 Toyota pickup which had a 2.4L I4. It burned 1 quart of oil every 1000 mile from installation onward. I was very disappointed and would never use them again. To me, a good new engine had better not burn a drop.
