Anyone have the Cat BAck Exhaust?
And if so....thoughts on the sound and any performance improvements? Was it worth the money?
I want to give my Rubi a bit stronger sound without being too loud. thx

I've got the Banks Monster exhaust and like it a lot. I looked around for quite a while and got to hear a several of the major label cat-backs on 4.0s and IMHO, Banks sounded the best. Is it worth it? It is if you want your Jeep to sound better/different than stock, but not if you want big power. You'll get a little more juice at high RPM's, but otherwise no big power.

Had Borla on my 98 and it sounded stock, maybe a bit deeper. I just installed the Banks Monster on my 04 Rubi and it sounds WAY better, def louder but not annoying.

I love my flowmaster 40- sounds aggressive but not obnoxious, although my poor radio can't keep up with road noise/tire noise/exhaust when I'm on the interstate.:laugh
Gained a hair on the very top end, lost it going to bigger tires ![]() |

I've got a Magnaflow muffler on my 4.0. 2.5" from the cat back, it's not a straight through muffler (inlet and outlets are offset), so that helps mellow it out a bit. I really do like it.

I have a homebrew 2.5" mandrel bend system with a flowmaster 40 series. It sounds awesome however might get tiring on a daily driver (mine isn't). Very deep raspy tone gets peoples attention under load
I find myself blipping the throttle for no apparent reason just to hear it (yes, childish I know ![]()

I got rusty's cat back flowmaster 40. It has deep tone and a bit loud at times but that is what I want. It is not like running a rice muffler or anything just depends on rpm. Installation is a pain so I had muffler shop do it since you need to drop tranny skid. I do hear it running at about 1500-2200rpm in the cab but it is a good sound. It has a nice rumble when it starts and will roar at WOT through 1st and 2nd . at highway it may be to much noise for some but more of a background sound. If you have the radio on you won't even hear it. Just my 2 cents
