Antirock

I'm wondering if the Anti Rock is worth it. How bad is it on the road compared to stock? I was thinking a disconnecting my TJ and driving around the neighborhood (at a slow speed) to see how it might feel. Would this be a realistic test?

That would not be a good evaluation. The anti-rock is a torsion-beam and not disconnected. I like the way mine handles on road and love it off road. I would suggest finding a jeep with a anti-rock and similar lift setup and drive it... only downside I see is that if needed high-speed abrupt turns wouldn't be fun....
but I dont drive my jeep like a porsche..

I have an Antirock on my daily-driver TJ and find its on-road manners to be just fine. It doesn't handle like a Porsche but then I never expected it to.

I ran an Anti-rock for a number of years and enjoyed its off-road performance.

A couple of months ago, I installed a SwayLOC. There really is no comparison, IMO. It behaves just as an Anti-rock off-road and like the factory setup on-road. When the ride difference on the street is enough for my wife to comment on (and she rides in the TJ about a half dozen times per year), you know it had to make a difference.

The SwayLOC is one of the better mods I've done in recent years. Had it not come along, I would still be running my Anti-rock.

As already stated, it will roll more on the road than with your swaybar connected, but less than when they're disconnected. I'd second the recommendation to find someone who has one and take if for a spin, both on and off road if possible. It's a mod that's definitely on my list, but now I'm going to have to look into the SwayLOC that Stu mentioned.

I drove my jeep everyday with my Anti-Rock on the loosest setting. I won't lie that it did take a couple of days to get used to, but after I did get the feel I never looked back.

I was worried that with the Anti-rock my Rubi would be all over the road.....but its much better than i was expecting. I have mine in the middle setting, with a OME HD 2 inch suspension, 255/85 Trxus on the stock Moabs. It does take a little getting used to, but i feel it rides a bit better over bumps and off road it really shines. Makes a ton of difference off road. I would do it over again. I haven't played with the different settings at all. I put it in the middle and left it there, maybe one day i'll mess with it a bit. My Jeep is my daily driver and i range from city driving to highway at speeds of 70-75ish, very stable. hope this helps ya.

I run the Swayloc and am very happy with the performance. It is a great solution for a daily driver. I ran the Antirock for a couple of years and the offroad performance was great. But it had too much sway for my taste on the street and I ended up putting the disconnects back on. When the Swayloc came along I knew it was the perfect solution for me! In my opinion there is nothing wrong with wanting a jeep that handles great on the road as well as offroad.

I was gonna upgrade my disco's but then I started thinking for bit more $$$ I could go with the Antirock but I want a Jeep that rides well on the street. The Sway Loc is the way to go but I can't swing that kind of money now. So it's either JKS quicker disconnects or the Anti rock.

Antirock - yes

I installed mine in the center setting as suggested in the instructions and haven't messed with it since. Offroad performance is outstanding, you don't even know it's there, and I'm still open in front.

On the road it rolls over a little more than stock, mostly noticed in really flat or off-camber corners at speed. But nothing intollerable, you just slow it down a bit. It's a whole different ride with them 35's, so I'm not cornering hard with it anyway.

Sure beats the hell out of pulling swaybar connectors, I had the JKS QD's before. Plus, the Antirock keeps the wheels planted better than being disconnected entirely. It's also much nicer in off-camber situations offroad, again especially with the bigger tires and with the whole chassis sitting up higher on tall spongy tires.

Got an Anti-rock on my rig, too. I'm very, very pleased with it, especially when I see guys trying to hook up the quick disco links after a trail run with muck caked all over the suspension . . . I can't really add anything that hasn't been said in this post already.

I've talked to other guys on the trails who were running the Anti-rocks. Same thing, they love the off-road performance, side hill stability, and the effect it has on the suspension to even out the body between the front and rear axles. One guy I talked to the other day installed the Teraflex S/T system after running the Anti-rock. He said he made a big mistake removing the Anti-rock and he'll be switching back soon.

The Swayloc is a brilliant solusion but it's also very pricy. A bit out of my leage. If you're looking for top performance I'd posit the follwing list from best flat out performance to least:
  • Swayloc - $550 (req. OBA)
  • Anti-rock - $280
  • Teraflex S/T Swaybar - $300
  • Quick Disco's - $100 - $140
  • Homemade disco's - $5
  • Stock Swaybar

Oh, for reference, here's a write-up / review I posted tot he forum a while back.

Jay, the money you get from selling your Anti-rock makes the price of the SwayLOC a little easier to handle.

My Rubi's a DD and the AntiRock does just fine.
The front end will nose dive a bit if I make a sharp 90 turn from a stop, but it's not unsafe or uncomfortable at all.
There are some very curvy roads here in my area and the Jeep handles great.
Regards,
Bil
