Thanks for the update F9K9. I have to add I think that is the cleanest looking engine I have seen on here.

I thought you had to do more mods to get it to fit. Direct bolt-on with just a pulley swap? Sign me, it's next on the list. Thanks

Thanks but, that is only because I like to wrench and I tend to attract grease and crap in my eyes!

That is probably no where close to output at idle. I can't help you out there, sorry.

I am only telling you that it was a pnp from a '98 alt to my '03 Rubi.
I basically got involved here because I saw that 5-90 was posting up. He saved me countless times when I was a XJ noob on NAXJA.com

I have read about the pulley changes and other requirements for various yrs but, for my situation, it was sweet. I did replace the belt, but there was not a size change. I just carry the old one as a spare.

i recently did this. i got a alt. for a 99 dakota it is a bigger case but it bolted rite up and pluged in. It made a big diffrence on the power when using the winch. i did add a 6 gauge wire from the alt. to the battery..

I was thinking about that right after I posted...I'll have them side by side so comparing will be easy. I'll post any new info if there is any when we do it.

Small hijack.

If a person was to go get one of these at a parts store and they required a core replacement, would they accept any old junk alternator you had laying around in trade?

Yes, they would! Most places do not even check.
